Buying Queen Duvet Covers
If you have a queen size duvet that you'd like to have for many years, you should consider getting a queen duvet cover. Also called a queen comforter cover, these pieces of bedding are an excellent way to protect your duvet or down comforter so that it stays in good condition and looks great. You just place your duvet inside, and the cover will protect it from skin oil, cosmetics, dirt and odors. Since you should only wash your duvet once every few years, cleanliness is important. Too much laundering can damage the duvet or comforter, making it less good at insulating, as well as lumpy and unattractive. Protecting your queen duvet or comforter from dirt and bad smells is the best way to keep it in good shape. However, a clean duvet isn't the only advantage you'll receive from using a queen comforter cover. You'll also be able to change around your bed's appearance without having to buy a whole new set of bedding. Just place the duvet into a new cover, and add some matching pillow shams or a bed skirt, and you'll have created an entirely new look. Some queen duvet covers even come with accessories as part of a set. That makes buying ones to match a simple matter. If you love to redecorate, but hate buying a whole new bedding set, a duvet cover set might be a better choice. When you go shopping, it's a good idea to make sure that the covers you're thinking of buying are ones that will last a long time and feel good against your skin. That means that you should buy queen duvet covers made of high quality fabric, and check stitching quality. Avoid any queen comforter cover that's made of a scratchy fabric, nonbreathing synthetic material, or that has loose stitches and monofilament thread. While these duvet covers might seem less expensive, they'll give you trouble in the long run by needing repair, feeling unpleasant, or trapping moisture inside your duvet, shortening its life and encouraging mold growth. Don't be fooled by famous brand names, either. While some brands indicate a standard of quality, many don't. Be sure to inspect every queen duvet cover you're thinking of buying to make sure that it'll do the job you want it to. Also, always check to be sure you're buying the correct size. Just because your duvet and the cover you're thinking of buying are for the same size mattress, that doesn't mean that they're going to match. Measure your duvet before you go shopping, and only buy a cover that will fit those dimensions. Otherwise, you could have a frustrating time trying to stuff a large, fluffy duvet into a cover that's too small, or might find your duvet swimming in one that's too big.
